There are four major topics in the Math part of the NET from which questions are asked:

Arithmetic and Numbers

NUST NET, in these types of questions, focuses on simple arithmetic principles and various types of numbers like Real numbers, Integers, and Complex numbers.

Algebra

  • High School-Based Algebra, including Linear and Quadratic equations, based on identities, inequalities, functions, and formulas are asked in this section.
  • This section carries maximum weightage in terms of the number of questions.
  • The ability to create, manipulate, and solve algebraic Equations is required to master this section.

Problem Solving

High School-Based use of ratios, percentages, and proportional reasoning to solve problems in real-world situations are asked in this section.

Advanced Math

High School and above-based topics like Equations of Circles, Parabolas, Quadratic Equations, Complex Numbers, and Higher-Order Degree Equations are asked in this section.

Most Difficult of all the sections and non-math background students struggle here.

High School-based Trigonometry, Areas, and Volume, which is inclusive of prism and pyramid, are asked in this section. The least number of questions are asked in this section.
